It is frequently said that if you love what you do you will never work a day in your life. This expresses the passion and appreciation I feel for my work.
My philosophy centres on personal care. Compassion for my patients’ and the value of attentive communication are an integral part of my approach, which are fundamental components of a successful outcome.
Plastic surgery is a speciality that is often considered a luxury or vanity purchase, frequently, this is not the case and not all people need the same things to feel good and thrive. Whilst natural and unique forms are to be celebrated, the body and face can be altered through trauma, pregnancy, ageing or illness. Restoring function and enhancing form make you more comfortable in your own skin. Facilitating someone’s journey to develop confidence and facilitate personal growth brings me both purpose and joy.
‘Jack of all trades and master of none.’ This reflects a contrary view to my (slightly) obsessive, perfectionist nature! My Private Practice has become focused in Rhinoplasty, Breast Surgery and Facial aesthetics. This focused approach has facilitated my journey, in developing a more comprehensive understanding in these areas with better and more predictable results.
‘One cannot help but be a student for life’. I make it a priority to keep abreast of advances and trends in my areas of super-specialisation and regularly organise and attend local and international conferences. I employ techniques that deliver predictable and natural results. I believe it is the nuances and precision in execution of each technique, adapted to each individual, which optimise each result.
Having benefited from the dedication of my colleagues who have preceded me I have a desire to share my experience with my colleagues, students and patients and is the reason for my commitment and collaboration in my community. It facilitates my growth and in turn, assists others to grow.
My practice, based in Cape Town, one of the most spectacular and beautiful cities in the world has an incredible bio-diversity offering endless opportunities for active leisure pursuits. When not working you’ll find me on my Mountain Bike or hiking on one of the many Table Mountain trails. The pristine white sands of Camps Bay beach in the shadow of Table Mountain, the Twelve Apostles and Lions Head make for an idyllic Sunday morning stroll. The coffee, wine and food culture together with the spirit of the people and cosmopolitan mix create a vibrant and eclectic culture that is home. It is not surprising that ‘The Telegraph’ voted Case Town the best city in the world for the last 7 years !
I am truly blessed to live here.
I am grateful for the opportunity to have travelled extensively, frequently attending courses or congresses or visiting colleagues. Not only offering an opportunity of learning and an exchange of ideas but in a broader sense creating a reflective space.
Retiring is not an option. In the next phase of my life, once I hang up my gloves, I will continue to explore my passion for sculpting.
